After exploding the box office scores in the pixealized world of Minecraft,, Jason Momoa find his warrior’s soul.
He will be a warlord in a historical series entitled Chief of war.
Composed of nine episodes and inspired by real facts, the story takes place 300 years before our era, at the end of the 18th century in the Pacific. Momoa Play the warrior Ka’iana, who tried to unify the islands before Western colonization in the Hawaii archipelago. A true prince of the region born in 1745, he is best known for having challenged Kamehameha, the first “king” of Hawaii.
Interpreted by mainly Polynesian actors (Momoa was born in Honolulu), the series also brings together in the casting the star of Star Wars,, Temuera Morrisonas well as Luciane Buchanan Te ao o Hinepehinga, Cliff Curtis, Kaina Makua, Moses Goods, Siua Ikale’o, Brandon Finn, James Udom, Mainei Kinimaka, Te Kohe Tuhaka and Benjamin Hoetjes.
The trailer put online by Apple today (see below) promises great battles and breathtaking decorations.
Doug Jung is showrunner of Chief of war. Momoa achieves the last episode and is also a delegate producer. The original music was composed by Hans Zimmer.
The first two episodes of Chief of war will be available on Friday August 1, 2025 on Apple TV+ – or on the day of the anniversary of Jason Momoa – Followed by a new episode every Friday until September 19.
