Karin Viard becomes Madame de Sévigné: trailer

The famous letters will come to life on the screen.

It is one of the most studied correspondences in French literature. The letters of Madame de Sévigné to his daughter Françoise will be the subject of a costume film. It is Karin Viard who will be behind the pen of the famous letter writer of the 17th Century, facing Ana Girardot who will play his daughter. Noémie Lvovsky will play Madame de La Fayette.

The story will tell how Madame de Sévigné refused to let his daughter be just a simple courtesan, thereby preventing her from becoming the mistress of King Louis XIV, and the consequences that ensued. “Mid-17th century, the Marquise de Sévigné wants to make her daughter a brilliant and independent woman, in her image. But the more she tries to have control over the young woman’s destiny, the more she rebels. Mother and daughter then experience the torments of a close and devastating relationship. From this devastation, a major work of French literature will be born” specifies the official synopsis.

Directed by Isabelle Brocard and co-written with Yves Thomas, Madame de Sévigné will be released in theaters on February 28.
