Miles Morales in a short film in a new Spider-Verse story

“The Spider Within” will be uploaded to YouTube next week.

While waiting for the release of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Versethe third part which should conclude the Miles Morales trilogy (hoped for in 2024), Sony Pictures Animation has just announced the release of the short film The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story.

It will be uploaded for free on the Sony Pictures Animation YouTube account on Wednesday, March 27 at 2 p.m. (French time). The production has a social vocation, since it was produced in collaboration with the Kevin Love Fund as part of its “fighting plan to help mental health”.

The short film will focus on “Miles Morales as he faces difficulties balancing his personal life with Spider-Man, leading to a panic attack.” Director Jarelle Dampier explains: “Miles represents those of us who do our best in our everyday lives. We often don't realize everything we've been through, until our own body forces us to become aware of its experience. My intention is that The Spider Within can motivate deeper conversations among friends and family about their own mental health journeys. And I hope this feels like a love letter to those who adore Miles Morales.”

The Spider Within was directed by Jarelle Dampier from a screenplay written by Khalla Amazon.
