No season 3 for Serpent Queen, but a spin-off about another Queen

Minnie Driver is set to return to play Queen Elizabeth I of England.

France has just lost a major shoot. The American series The Serpent Queenrecounting the capture of Catherine de Medici in the middle of the 16th Century, is officially canceled by Starz after 2 seasons. With Samantha Morton in the title role, the historical series was filmed in different locations in France, at Fort Saint-André, at the abbey gardens in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, at the castle of Villandry, Tarascon and even at the castle of Chambord , to the Saint-Étienne de Bourges cathedral.

There will therefore be no season 3 for Snake Queen. But the historical saga will continue in the form of a spin-off centered on Queen Elizabeth I of England, very problematically filmed across the Channel.

The creative team composed of screenwriter/executive producer Justin Haythe and Erwin Stoff, will develop this new series which will likely be carried by Minnie Driver.

The English actress was already a guest in season 2 of The Serpent Queenin the dress of the Sovereign.

The two seasons of The Serpent Queen can be seen in France on Max.
