Pirates of the Caribbean 6: new priority for the new Disney bosses… with Jack Sparrow’s son as the hero?

According to the American press, the new CEO Josh D’Amaro’s first project would be to relaunch the famous franchise.

To mark the occasion of his arrival in office and launch his mandate with fanfare?

According to the Hollywood press and the very well informed Jeff Sneider, the new CEO of Disney, Josh D’Amaro, and the new creative boss Dana Walden, would have placed the return of Pirates of the Caribbean at the top of their pile of projects to restart.

The group has in fact just changed bosses. The iconic Bob Iger will hand over in a few days. And to make his mark, the successor would like to achieve something that Iger has not been able to achieve in recent years: the comeback of the franchise with 4.5 billion dollars in revenue.

The studio is therefore currently in discussions with Krysty Wilson-Cairns, Oscar-nominated screenwriter for 1917in order to write the scenario of this Pirates of the Caribbean 6.

Long in the state of persistent rumor, Pirates of the Caribbean 6 thus resurfaces and according to these well-informed sources, the revival of the saga would now be a strategic priority for the new leaders of Disney.

Even more, as a symbol to highlight the opening of a new era, he would like a generational change on display.

This new opus would take the form of a soft reboot, centered on Jack Sparrow’s son, accompanied by a major female character. A role which could go to Margot Robbie, initially expected to lead a spin-off, who would now be recycled in this new creative direction.

Disney would seek to create “an original and iconic character, imagined as a punk-rock cross between Jack Sparrow and Emma Stone’s Cruella de Vil”.

A description that says a lot about the studio’s desire to modernize the DNA of the saga while retaining its anarchic spirit.

The Johnny Depp question remains. Last year, it was mentioned that the legendary interpreter of Jack Sparrow could make his return in a secondary role, just to pass the torch. At this stage, nothing confirms that this option is still relevant. One thing is certain: Jerry Bruckheimer would remain on production…

Without a doubt one of the projects that are likely to attract the most attention in 2026.
