Roschdy Zem president of the jury of the next Deauville festival

Roschdy Zem will chair the jury of the 52nd Deauville American Film Festival. A logical nomination for this actor and director who has always been nourished by the great stories from Hollywood.

That’s it! The Deauville American Film Festival has chosen its president. For its 52nd edition, which will be held from September 4 to 13, it is Roschdy Zem who will head the jury responsible for deciding between the films in competition. An obvious fact (or almost), as the actor – and director – maintains a passionate relationship with Yankee cinema.

If Zem has established himself as one of the most important actors in contemporary French cinema, his cinephile was largely built with American films. He always said he grew up with the films of Scorsese, Coppola, Sidney Lumet and Brian De Palma. A popular and ambitious cinema which still irrigates his work as a director today. In his films we find a fascination for the trajectories of men confronted with their destiny and for tense urban stories.

Awarded a César for best actor for Roubaix, a lightZem is therefore an ideal candidate to embody this edition. A president capable of making the link between two cinemas that he has never opposed: European auteur cinema and the great American narrative.

It now remains to discover the composition of the jury and the selection.
