Russell Crowe Mentor by Henry Cavill in Highlander’s reboot?
The Oscar -winning star could succeed Sean Connery …
There can only be one … and it may be Russell Crowe.
The New Zealand actor will join the cast of the reboot of Highlander worn by Henry Cavillaccording to Collider. The film is directed by Chad Stahelskithe man behind the saga John Wickand reinvents the 1986 cult feature film with Christopher Lambert.
If we are told that he will hold an important place in history, his exact role is still secret. But from the age of 61, we can see Russell Crowe embody the role of the mentor for the character of Cavill – like Sean Connerywhich camped the legendary Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez alongside Lambert at the time. Connery was then 56 years old, and imposed a unique aura in this immortal tandem.
Oscar for best actor for Gladiator by Ridley Scott, Crowe was also appointed for Revelation (The Insider1999) and An exceptional man (A Beautiful Mind2001). He already shares a common past with Cavill: both appeared in Man of Steelwhere he embodied Jor-elFather Kryptonian of Superman.
That being said, this new Highlanderproduced by Amazon MGM Studioswill not be a simple remake. As Stahelski recently teased:
“We have made history forward from the 1500s in the Highlands to the near future between New York and Hong Kong. There is enormous action potential … and it is also a love story – but not as you imagine.”
The shooting is scheduled for the fall of 2025, for a probable exit in 2027 or 2028. For the moment, the details of the intrigue remain confidential, but this Highlander New generation promises to be an ambitious reinvention of the saga.
