Steve McQueen’s blockbuster film Blitz unveils a promising trailer
The director of Twelve Years a Slave returns for a major Second World War fresco in the heart of London, during the bombings of the Battle of Britain.
This is a new great historical film that Steve McQueen. After having recounted slavery in America in Twelve Years a Slavethe British filmmaker returns to his island to tell, in Blitzone of the most significant moments of World War II: the Battle of Britain. While France has surrendered, Nazi Germany tries to force the English government to give in by bombing its capital, again and again. The children are sent to the countryside. The others hide at the back of the subway.
The director will tell this very powerful page of English history, through the eyes of a 9-year-old child, played by a newcomer: Elliott Heffernan. The Irish-born actress Saoirse Ronan will play his mother.
“George (Elliott Heffernan), a 9-year-old boy and his mother Rita (Saoirse Ronan) rush to flee London to find refuge in the countryside… But George rebels and, determined to join his mother and grandfather Gerald (Paul Weller) in East London, embarks on an extremely dangerous adventure while Rita, mad with worry, goes in search of her son.”
Written and directed by Steve McQueen, Blitz Also cast are Harris Dickinson, Benjamin Clementine, Kathy Burke, Paul Weller, Stephen Graham, Leigh Gill, Mica Ricketts, CJ Beckford, Alex Jennings, Joshua McGuire, Hayley Squires, Erin Kellyman and Sally Messham.
Blitz will be released on November 22 on Apple TV+.
