Venom 3 devours Clint Eastwood and the Palme d’Or at the French box office

For its first day in theaters here, The Last Dance gave Juror No. 2 and Anora no chance.

Already 200,000 entries for Venom 3. The continuation of the saga carried by Tom Hardy starts off with a bang at the French box office. For its first day in theaters, The Last Dancethe final opus of the trilogy, supported by positive reviews, attracted 124,000 spectators in 500 theaters, plus 80,000 admissions during previews. It’s better than Venom 2. In 2021, Let There Be Carnageaccumulated a little more than 160,000 countermarks and in a larger number (700 rooms). Venom: The Last Dance therefore displays an excellent average per screen, compared to the previous sections.

Sony’s Marvel film leaves no chance for Clint Eastwood. Juror #2 opens in second place, but far behind, with just over 50,000 tickets sold (in 448 theaters). The legal thriller still does significantly better than Cry Machowhich had a first day of less than 20,000 admissions in 2021 and finished with less than 200,000 spectators in France. Juror #2 can hope to do better in the end.

On the podium of the week’s new releases, the Palme d’Or of the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, not helped by a total absence of buzz, is content with 30,000 curious people (in 360 theaters). Anoradirected by Sean Bakerobviously does less well than the previous Palme d’Or, Anatomy of a fallwhich started with 55,382 entries. The film of Justine Triet had ended its career with 2 million admissions (but boosted by a post-Oscars release).

Finally, in this ranking we can note the very good start of Flow, the cat who was no longer afraid of water. The very beautiful animated film directed by Gints Zilbalodis has already been seen by more than 50,000 people, thanks to a host of previews (40,000 entries) during the holidays.
