Why George Clooney chose to raise his children “on a farm in France”
“In France, people don’t care about fame,” assures the American actor when talking about his life in the Var.
Goodbye Los Angeles and its glitter, long live the tranquility of the Var.
George Clooney made a radical choice since the birth of his twins: flee Hollywood to protect his children from a world where, according to him, they would not have “never had a fair chance at a normal life.”
He recounts in Esquire this easy little life in France, where we imagine him eating pâté with a glass of red:
“We’re very lucky. We live on a farm in France. Part of my life was spent in the countryside and, as a child, I hated it. But for them, it’s different: they’re not on their iPads, they have dinner with the adults and they clear the table. They have a much better life.”
Small detail which is important: the farm in question is the “domaine du Canadel”, located in Brignoles in the Var, a property of 170 hectares including 8 hectares of vines, which would be worth around 8 million euros… Life in the countryside, of course, but not just anyhow either!
In any case, George Clooney accepts his move to the south of France, guided by the desire to preserve his children from Hollywood culture:
“In LA, I was worried. They would never have had a real chance. In France, people don’t care about fame. I don’t want them to grow up obsessed with the paparazzi or compared to other stars’ kids.”
We imagine that George Clooney spends a lot of time on the plane, since he recently walked on Broadway with Good Night and Good Luckand just turned Jay Kellythe new film by Noah Baumbach, which will be released soon on Netflix.
