HBO plays cards on the table: after having long kept its clown nightmare in the shade, the chain reveals the first full trailer of that: Welcome to Derry, the prequel of the classic that. And this time, Pennywise appears in close -up.
Adapted from the cult novel by Stephen King published in 1986, the series extends the universe installed by Andy Muschietti in the films that (2017) and that: Chapter 2 (2019). Few elements have filtered on the plot, apart from what we can guess in these first images, but a certainty reassures the fans: Bill Skarsgård will resume the role of Pennywise, the dancing clown which has terrorized an entire generation.
The trailer (to see below) highlights an African-American family who arrives in the small town of Maine, in 1962. Having trouble finding a place in the local community, it will also undergo the horrors of the clown …
Synopsis: “Strange events take place in the city of Derry in the 1960s linked to Pennywise Le Clown, a mysterious character who haunts Derry.”
Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James NEME, Stephen Rider, Madeleine Stowe and Rudy Mancuso complete the cast.
Partly produced by Andy Muschietti, the series will be released on October 27 on HBO Max in France.
