Cobra Kai star joins One Piece season 2 on Netflix

Xolo Mariduña, former DC star of Blue Beetle, will play Ace.

A Netflix star is joining another flagship Netflix series.

After finishing kicking ass in Cobra Kai, actor Xolo Mariduña, embarks on the live-action universe of One Piece to play Portgas D. Ace, aka Fire Fist. Before joining the legendary Whitebeard’s crew, Ace commanded the Spade Pirates and became a symbol of fire and rebellion, large hat, bare chest and machete at his hip included.

An exciting role for the young 24-year-old actor, who once believed he could become a movie superstar by being the hero of a DC film, Blue Beetle. But his blockbuster was a flop ($130.8 million, the worst score for a DC film) and here he is back on streaming, and on Netflix.

Xolo Mariduña joins an already flamboyant cast, including Cole Escola, Tony winner of Oh, Mary!, who will lend his features to the assassin Bon Clay.

The series still follows Monkey D. Luffy and his crew in their quest for the ultimate treasure, with Emily Rudd, Mackenyu, Jacob Gibson, Taz Skylar and many others in iconic roles from Eiichiro Oda’s manga saga.

Season 2 promises its share of surprises: Mikaela Hoover will lend her voice to the blue reindeer Tony Tony Chopper, while Charithra Chandran will play the mysterious Miss Wednesday. The One Piece sequel arrives on Netflix on March 10, 2026.
