The Even Not Afraid festival unveils a fantastic fusion selection

The Réunion International Fantastic Film Festival returns to Saint-Philippe with a daring 16th edition. From February 18 to 21, Even Not Afraid offers an intense cinematic immersion through new works celebrating the strange, diversity and independent creation.

The Even Not Fear festival, Reunion Island International Fantasy Film Festival, reveals the official selection of its 16th edition with an identity more assertive than ever. This new program promises to be a unique dive into the heart of contemporary fantasy, where the unusual, the strange, bodies, the feminine, difference, audacity and the quest for oneself dialogue around the same cinematographic territory.

This year, the festival offers an electrifying selection of 62 international films, all screened for the first time in Reunion. Seven feature films and fifty-five short and animated films will be presented across seventeen screenings, drawing a true map of world fantasy cinema. Far from the clichés of the genre, the programming highlights independent and daring cinema.

With works from twenty-three countries, Even Not Fear affirms its international openness and its attachment to the plurality of perspectives, from Asia to Europe, from the Americas to Oceania. This cultural richness is coupled with a strong commitment to the visibility of minorities, female fantasy cinema and stories addressing disability, adolescence or LGBTQ+ identities.

Particularly committed, the selection of feature films brings together seven independent works with contrasting universes, ranging from psychological thriller to manhunt, from poetic road movie to experimental cinema, to body horror and visceral stories exploring the female psyche and childhood. The public will be able to discover Thinestrapresented in French premiere, as well as Noise, Tears of the Crocodile, Redux Redux, Marama And Skyscreened in preview before their theatrical release in France. Exit 8 will make his first Reunion visit.

In a world often marked by gloom and tension, Even Not Fear asserts more than ever its love of creation, daring and imagination. The festival will be held from Wednesday February 18 to Saturday February 21 at the Henri Madoré cinema, in Saint-Philippe, for four intense days dedicated to fantasy in all its forms.
