After Baden Baden And My LegionnaireFrench director Rachel Lang returns with a spy thriller, Mata. Injured after an operation in Niger, Mata, a DGSE agent, is reassigned to the Territorial Internal Security. She seeks to find traces of her companion, captured during the operation… An investigation which will lead her to doubt her superiors…

The film was presented at the closing of the 6th edition of Reims Polar.

An arid desert, an operation that goes wrong, an agent in captivity and a woman who seeks to know the truth: Mata delivers a nervous and rhythmic trailer with cold tones.

In the casting, we will find Eye Haïdara – who will be the mistress of ceremonies of this 79th Cannes Film Festival – in the main role, alongside: Joséphine Japy, Raphaël Personnaz and Mélanie Laurent.

Synopsis: “Injured during a clandestine operation in Niger, Mata, an agent of the DGSE action service, loses track of Antoine, her companion captured on site. On her return, she is assigned to the Territorial Internal Security and takes on a counter-espionage mission in the Alps: a shadow seems to connect this file to the ambush in Africa. Convinced that her superiors are hiding information from her and haunted by Antoine’s captivity, she launches into a race against time, outside of any official framework… at the risk of losing everything.

Mata will be released on May 27 in French theaters.
