After being fired from Marvel, Jonathan Majors returns in a very controversial film
Away from the MCU after his conviction for assault and harassment, the former Kang returns to the cinema with an action thriller on radical Islamism, produced by the very conservative studio Daily Wire.
He was one of the rising figures in Hollywood. Fantastic boxer Creed IIIdark hero of Lovecraft Country on HBO, he had even become the big bad guy in the Marvel Universe and was to take up all the space in Avengers 5 (before Kevin Feige changed his plans and called back Robert Downey Jr. to play Doctor Doom)…
And then everything fell apart for Jonathan Majors. Found guilty of third-degree assault and harassment against his ex-partner, the 36-year-old actor avoided prison, but he was kicked out of Hollywood and especially the Marvel saga.
Three years later, he is back. But in a film a little less expected… The first trailer for Run Hide Fight: Infidels has just been revealed and it already promises an extremely controversial comeback. It was The Daily Wire, the conservative media co-founded by Ben Shapiro, which offered a new base for the fallen star.
Run Hide Fight: Infidels is the anthological sequel to Run Hide Fightthriller released in 2020 and already produced by the company. And the synopsis immediately sets the tone. The film follows a group of radical Islamist terrorists who take control of a pro-Palestinian encampment on an American university campus in order to impose Sharia law and execute “infidels”. A handful of students, a security agent and a former member of the special forces will then unite to stop them. Suffice to say that the subject has already sparked a lively controversy in the United States.
The production of Run Hide Fight: Infidels has not been a long, quiet river. Earlier this year, Jonathan Majors made headlines after he was injured falling through a window while filming. The film was also hit by a strike launched by IATSE, the American cinema technicians’ union, which denounced problems with working conditions.
No release date has been announced yet, but Run Hide Fight: Infidels will be broadcast exclusively on the Daily Wire+ platform.
A very political and particularly divisive return for an actor whose Hollywood career seemed, just a few years ago, destined for the heights.
