After Fainted, the film about Aunt Gladys moves forward
Warner Bros. just hired a screenwriter to write the film with Zach Cregger.
The nightmare is not over.
After the cardboardFainted (Weapons in VO), its most terrifying character is about to return to haunt the screens. And this time, it all starts with her. The project has been in the pipeline for several months, it is now moving into high gear.
This prequel toFaintedprovisionally titled Gladysadvances concretely: Zach Shields (Godzilla x Kong: The New Kingdom) joins Zach Cregger in writing the screenplay.
Developed by Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema, the film capitalizes on the massive success of the first opus, which generated $270 million at the worldwide box office and left a lasting impression as much as critics. At the heart of this success, a figure who became instantly iconic: Aunt Gladys. Played by Amy Madigan, the deranged witch even earned the actress an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, as well as a SAG Award and a Critics Choice Award.
During the Oscars ceremony, Amy Madigan did not hide her desire to dive back into this universe:
“We know that this kind of project takes time. Nothing is real until it really is. But if it happens, it would be great, because I trust Zach (Cregger) and his crazy ideas.”
For now, the plot of Gladys remains secret. But one thing is certain: the film should explore the origins of this nightmarish figure, who became a sort of parasitic witch kidnapping children, with her look that has become cult.
While waiting for Aunt Gladys to return, Zach Cregger already has another highly anticipated project: a new film resident Evilwhich is scheduled for release next September.
