Cillian Murphy hesitant to make Peaky Binders movie
“It’s sometimes difficult to switch to the film format and I like the ambiguity of the end of the series…”
Even if she was against him this summer in cinemas, Margot Robbie loves Peaky Blinders and she asked Cillian Murphy if the series, finished in 2022, was going to have a cinema sequel. (via Variety).
While the creator Steven Knight has been hard at work for months writing his film, even hoping to film it this year, the Irish actor seems much less excited. He responds to Robbie:
“I’m open to the idea. I always thought, if there’s more story to tell, then why not. So, we’ll see.”
With this limited enthusiasm, Cillian Murphy continues his reflection and suggests that he does not want to damage the heritage of the historical drama:
“Who knows? It’s possible… It’s very nice of you to want to see a sequel. I mean… I’m totally open to the idea… But at the same time, Peaky Blinders, it’s been 6 perfect seasons. And it’s sometimes difficult to switch to film format. And then I like the ambiguity of the ending. But I’m always up for it when there’s a good script.”
