George Clooney stops the Rom-Coms: “I’m not going to compete with 25-year-olds!”

At 63, the actor of intolerable cruelty and ticket to Paradise begins on Broadway. The opportunity to take stock of his career …

Guest in the show 60 minutes,, George Clooney was asked at length about his desire to start on Broadway, after the sixties. He who had made Good Night and Good Luck For cinema, in 2005, plays in the play inspired by the same story, taking up the role he had offered to David Strathairn in his film: Edward R. Murrow, presenter of television news in war against McCarthism.

Also co-author of the play with his writing and production partner Grant Heslov, he is delighted to have taken the plunge, even late. To the question “Would you like to play Broadway earlier in your career?”Clooney answers:

“I do not know if I could have done it. I had not yet acquired all this experience, it takes work to manage to do this. But I do not believe that there is only one actor who does not dream of playing on Broadway. This is all the fun of this experience, it becomes harder by aging. But why not?”

Questioned The whole of his careercardboard full ofEMERGENCIES to his thrillers (Out of reachthe saga Ocean’s…) or his achievements for cinema (Confessions of a dangerous man, Monuments Men…), George Clooney reveals during this interview not to want to play in romantic comedies:

“Listen, I’m 63 years old. I’m not going to compete with 25-year-olds! It’s not my job. So no, I’m not going to shoot Rom-Coms.”

A revelation which follows from a discussion on its title of“The sexiest man” of 2003. “It was huge for me, huh?”he laughs, sarcastic, before his Rom-Coms were mentioned, ultimately not so numerous: we have seen him fall in love with Michelle Pfeiffer in A beautiful dayin 1996, by Catherine Zeta-Jones in Intolerable cruelty (2003), from Vera Farmiga in In The Air (2009) or Julia Roberts in TICKETS TO Paradisevery recently. An actress with whom he already formed a couple in the Ocean’s.
