Ghostbusters High: what will the Ghostbusters prequel look like?
A movie ? A series? Cartoon ? Dan Aykroyd is still hesitant.
The new episode of the saga Ghostbusters, The Threat of Ice, comes out tomorrow in French cinemas. And the film is also on the cover of the issue of First currently on newsstands. In particular, we can find a long interview with Dan Aykroyd, creator of the saga and interpreter of Doctor Raymond Stantz, who discusses his belief in the paranormal and the making-of of the cult 1984 fantasy comedy.
Dan Aykroyd, real guardian of the temple, also tells a little more about Ghostbusters Highthe prequel to the saga, a project he has been working on for several years, and which could soon become a reality now that the ghost hunters are back in battle, after the success of Ghostbusters: Legacy in 2021:
“Ghostbusters High recounts the meeting between Venkman, Stantz and Spengler (the three ghost hunters played by Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis) in high school, in New Jersey, in 1969, explains Aykroyd. It's a great story. Honestly, I think it's one of the best things I've written in my life! It remains to be seen what we are going to do with it. A movie ? A series pilot? Cartoon ? We will think about it after the release of The Ice Menace. I admit that I preferred it to be live because it would be a lot of fun for me to organize a casting call to find a young Murray, a young Ramis and a young me.”
Note that a “young Aykroyd” has already been cast by Jason Reitman (producer of The Ice Menace and son of Ivan Reitman, the director of the first two Ghostbusters) for his film SNL 1975which will tell behind the scenes of the first issue of the legendary show Saturday Night Live : it's Dylan O'Brien (The labyrinth) who will play the Dan Aykroyd of 1975, while he was preparing to participate in the show that would bring him glory.
Waiting SNL 1975 and the hypothetical Ghostbusters Highwe can find the Dan Aykroyd of 2024 in Ghostbusters: The Ice Threat, directed by Gil Kenan, where he is notably surrounded by Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon and Bill Murray. Trailer :
