House of the Dragon season 2: even more dragons expected in episode 6: trailer!

“To claim a dragon, one must be willing to die.”

The war between Team Green and Team Black is about to tip over on one deciding factor: the number of dragons! Jacaerys has had a bright idea that could turn the tide in Rhaenyra’s favor, as teased in the trailer for the sixth episode of Season 2 of House of the Dragon (see below).

Warning, spoilers!

Back from the Twins where he went to conclude an alliance for his mother, Jacaerys hinted that there might be a way to strengthen their numbers. At Dragonstone, they remain dragons without dragon riders, creatures that once mounted could make all the difference in this war. But where to find these riders? The Prince suggests turning to illegitimate Targaryen bloodlines. This is this completely new plan, also called in the book Fire and Blood from which the series is taken, “the launch of seeds” or “the red sowing” which will be at the heart of episode 6.

“To claim a dragon, one must be prepared to die”declares Rhaenyra. The few brave or foolish who will try risk their lives to prove that dragon blood flows in their veins. Many will perish, but some will succeed in taming these masterless dragons: Silverwing, Sheepthief, Seasmoke, Vermithor etc. But who? By staging this crucial episode of the Dance of the Dragons, readers will find illustrious names like Hugh the Hammer, Ulf the Licheur, Nettle or even Adam of Hull – a character already appeared in this season. All will play a decisive role in the battles to come.

But will it be enough? Jacaerys suggests to his mother that it is crucial that Daemon return. Daemon, still residing in the haunted house of Harrenhaal, hopes to bring the last of King Aegon’s supporters back to that camp. His presence in the Riverlands worries Ser Criston Cole:

“If Daemon continues to rule the Riverlands, I will soon run out of men to challenge him.”

But not Aemond, the Prince who became Regent while his brother recovered from his injuries. Fearsome and cruel, he sees in his uncle an enemy of his own measure. Their confrontation seems imminent.

A Lannister army is deployed in these lands, while a revolt breaks out in King’s Landing – possibly triggered by the spy sent by Mysaria in the previous episode. The capital is burning from within…

Episode 6 of season 2 of House of the Dragon will be available on Max starting next Monday.
