Idris Elba back in Hijack: date and first teaser for season 2
The plane is over! The suspense thriller will now take place in a subway.
Like John McClane, would he always be in the wrong place at the wrong time?
Idris Elba is back for season 2 of his successful thriller Hijack, which marked the year 2023 on Apple TV+. The streamer has just revealed the first teaser and release date for the sequel (see below), confirming the imminent return of negotiator Sam Nelson — stuck in a new hostage situation.
The teaser shows Idris Elba boarding a commuter train in Berlin… before the nightmare begins again. The car is trapped. A bomb ready to explode threatens travelers. And Sam. But how will he get off this time?
As in season 1, Hijack will retain its real-time narration, a relentless mechanic that contributed to its success.
Filmed between London and Germany, this new salvo abandons the skies to plunge into the tunnels of the Berlin metro, where hundreds of passengers will be taken hostage. According to the official synopsis, “an underground train and its passengers are held captive, while the authorities desperately try to save hundreds of lives. Sam Nelson is at the heart of the crisis, where one wrong decision can turn everything upside down.”
Alongside Idris Elba, we will find Christine Adams, Max Beesley and Archie Panjabi, while season 2 welcomes several newcomers: Toby Jones, Lisa Vicari, Clare-Hope Ashitey, Karima McAdams and Christiane Paul.
Hijack will return on Wednesday January 14, 2026, with two episodes broadcast from launch, followed by a weekly release until February 25, to be seen on Apple TV+ and also on Canal + in France.
