Netflix makes its English Legends Bureau with Legends: trailer
A crazy true story of infiltration in the war against drug traffickers in the 1990s…
“Your legend is the identities we assume when operating undercover…”
We’ve heard that before somewhere. In France, there was Le Bureau des Légendes (on Canal +). The United Kingdom will release Legends, which will tell a totally crazy true story, as already teased in this trailer (below).
The series created by Neil Forsyth (The Gold) does not really go behind the scenes of MI6 (the English DGSE), but follows a very special mission which was organized in the 1990s, in order to win the war against drug trafficking: ordinary customs officers with no experience of espionage infiltrate the heart of the most fearsome gangs in Great Britain.
Steve Coogan, Tom Burke and Hayley Squires will be in the cast.
The Netflix synopsis details: “In the early 1990s, British Customs is losing its fight against drug trafficking. They then opt for an extraordinary solution, a top secret operation entrusted to a small team of undercover customs employees. Their mission: to infiltrate the most dangerous drug gangs in Britain. But these agents were not trained to be spies. They are ordinary men and women from all over the United Kingdom, torn from their daily lives, subjected to basic training and tasked with building a new identity in the world of crime: a legend.”
Legends will be available on May 7 on Netflix.
