Prison Break is back on Netflix: is a sequel still possible?

Prison Break is coming back! A new series ordered for Disney +

It will certainly be broadcast on Disney Plus in France… but without Michael Scofield a priori.

The project has been circulating for months, but it is now official: Prison Break will make its comeback. Hulu has ordered a new series, led by Elgin James, the creator of Mayans MC, who will serve as showrunner, screenwriter, executive producer and director of the first episode.

It will not be a sequel or yet another season carried by Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell, but a reboot, which will take place in the universe of the original series but with new characters and a new plot. We will follow Cassidy, an ex-soldier turned prison guard, ready to do anything to protect the person she loves. She will be played by Emily Browning, revelation of Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch and then seen again in American Gods. Opposite her, Lukas Gage will play Jackson, a “politician from a wealthy background, campaigning for his first election to Congress”. Drake Rodger will play Tommy, this “inmate in one of the deadliest prisons in the United States, incarcerated ten years ago”.

In all likelihood, it is therefore Drake Rodger who should try to escape… helped from the inside by Emily Browning?

Clayton Cardenas, JR Bourne, Georgie Flores and Myles Bullock round out the cast.

Historical producers Dawn Olmstead, Paul Scheuring (creator of the original series), Marty Adelstein and Neal Moritz are also returning to production, still under the 20th Television banner.

Broadcast on Fox between 2005 and 2017, the original Prison Break series marked an entire generation. It is not yet known whether Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows will make an appearance. Technically, it’s not impossible, since we’re told the story takes place in the same universe. But nothing has yet been clarified on this subject.

The new series Prison Break will be broadcast in France on Disney + (which includes the Hulu series here – another American platform belonging to the Disney group). No release date has yet been announced.
