Shōgun will continue: Disney Plus considers season 2 and even season 3
Hiroyuki Sanada has reportedly already signed to return to play Lord Yoshii Toranaga.
Yes, Shōgun was initially going to be a limited series. But given its massive success in recent months, the American channel FX is seeking to extend the pleasure and is currently developing two additional seasons, in connection with the heirs of James Clavell, the novelist who wrote Shōgun in 1975.
We don't yet know what the sequel will be about, since the entire literary classic of more than 1,100 pages has been adapted into the 10 episodes of Shōgun. On the other hand, the Japanese star Hiroyuki Sanadawho plays Lord Yoshii Toranaga, has already reached an agreement to return in season 2. In addition, co-creators/executive producers/writers Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo will also return to write these new episodes.
They recently said they didn't want to go beyond the book and imagine the rest of Clavell's story. The writer has never published a sequel to Shōgunbut he released several novels in the same vein, in the same vein, in his “Asian saga”.
