Sydney Sweeney teases her role as a boxer: “You’ll see me kicking butt”
The Euphoria actress puts herself in the shoes of a boxer with a chaotic life.
A month ago, Sydney Sweeney revealed the first images from his new film. A biopic on boxing champion Christy Martin for which the actress breaks her glamorous image. Short hair, bulging muscles, the star ofEuphoria transformed herself to play a sportswoman with a tumultuous life, she loved it.
On her Instagram account, she announced the end of filming by posing alongside Christy Martin, who supervised the production of the film. A photo accompanied by a long text where she pays tribute to the woman whose life she brings to the screen.
“We finished filming Christy Martin’s story and it was one of the most moving and transformative experiences of my life. Christy’s journey is so deeply inspiring, and having her by my side during this process has been truly unreal. There were times on set when I watched her standing by the monitors to support us, and it was so moving. Knowing what she endured, what she went through to be there, I wanted to cry.”
And for good reason. Inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame in 2020, Christy Martin had a remarkable career, with 49 victories in 59 fights and a world champion title in the super-welterweight category in 2009. But also serious personal problems outside the ring , her husband having tried to kill her a year later.
“This story is much more than just a movie“, continues Sydney Sweeney. “It’s an ode to resilience, the spirit of survival, and the ability to keep fighting. I’m so excited for you to find out – not only for the transformation and work I put in, but because Christy’s story deserves to be told. And yes, you’ll see me kick some serious butt. Really kick some ass. I think I even liked it a little too much haha. But most importantly, you will witness a story as powerful as the woman who lived it. I will carry this experience with me forever. I can’t wait to share more.”
