The moving Emmy Awards tribute to Matthew Perry
The “In Memoriam” was largely dedicated to the Friends actor, with a very moving cover of the theme song, “I’ll be there for you”.
He was one of the biggest stars in the history of the small screen, in what is certainly today the most cult series of all. Three months after the sudden death of Matthew Perrythe Emmy Awards couldn’t forget the old Friends.
And the 75th ceremony paid tribute to him in a very beautiful way, on the occasion of the traditional “In Memoriam”, this short video which shows the faces of those who died during the year. They included Andre Braugher, Lance Reddick, Paul Reubens, Barbara Walters, Angela Lansbury, Alan Arkin and Kirstie Alley, whose faces were displayed to the sound of a brilliant cover of the hit “I’ll be there for you”. A soft version of the theme song Friends, performed by Charlie Puth and the duo The War and Treaty. And of course, the face of Matthew Perry was displayed last, at length, to the loud applause of a visibly moved audience.
