Who will be the new heroes of House of the Dragon season 2?

Overview of the new faces who will face each other in the war of the Greens against the Blacks.

In the war between Rhaenyra and Alicent, the Black camp and the Green camp will try to rally their support. But who will join the battle of Dragon Dancewhich will ignite season 2 of House of the Dragon ?

Gwayne Hightower

In Otto's family (Rhys Ifans), I ask for the eldest son. Big brother of Alicent, Gwayne Hightower will have a crucial role to play. Interpreted by Freddie Fox (The Gentlemen, Slow Horses), we see him in the trailer ready to go into battle (photo above). “Freddie brought so much character and humor to Gwayne, who until then had been reclusive in Oldtown, the seat of the Hightower house. explains showrunner, Ryan Condal, in EW. “Gwayne grew up in Oldtown, his home base, but now that the Hightowers are on the march to power, he arrives in King's Landing to support his family's participation in the war. We've seen a lot of the Targaryen side, but what about the Hightowers? How do they fit into all of this? We thought it would be interesting to highlight this character who was only mentioned in the first season. What impact will it have on Alicent and Otto?”

Daeron Targaryen

He is the gentlest of the three sons of King Viserys I Targaryen and Queen Alicent Hightower, present in the books but absent in the series for the moment. Will he finally make his entrance? “That remains to be seen. We will see”, teases Condal, who confirms that, even if his name has never been mentioned, Aegon and Aemond's brother does indeed exist somewhere in the series. “Daeron is a staple and character in the series. Don't worry. It will arrive in due time.” In season 2? Or after?”

Cregan Stark

We only see him from behind in the trailer, but we already know that Rhaenyra's Targaryen clan will try to rally Ned Stark's ancestor to their cause: “He's very powerful. Everyone is fighting for his army. He's a little younger than Ned Stark, so it's interesting to see Young Wolf, young Lord Stark, and how he behaves in this world, and the burden that rests on his shoulders as Guardian of the North.”

Harrenhal and the Strongs

Season 2 of House of the Dragon will take us to the mythical Harrenhal Castle, the seat of House Strong, which plays a strategic role in the history of the Dragon Dance. We will notably meet Alys Rivers (Gayle Rankin) and Ser Simon Strong (Simon Russell Beale). “Whether it's true or just a rumor, there is this supernatural aura around Harrenhal that scares people. We were excited to play with that.”

Baela Targaryen

We have already seen her briefly in season 1. But Baela Targaryen (Bethany Antonia) will gain momentum in season 2 of House of the Dragon. Daughter of Daemon from his marriage to Lady Laena Velaryon (Nanna Blondell), she will lead her dragon Moondancer into battle, as revealed in the trailer. “There were characters with whom we didn't spend much time in season 1, because we had to go through 20 years of narration: Aemond, Helaena, Jace, Baela or Rhaena were neglected. However, these characters are very connected to Rhaenyra, Alicent, Daemon, Viserys and Otto that we immediately wanted to highlight them, shine the spotlight on them and enter their lives…”
