Why new day is no longer broadcast on M6

Production will continue a few more weeks, to provide spectators who remain a “curly” end.

Stop for new day. The daily soap opera launched on June 30 on M6 has not been broadcast on the antenna since September 23.

Despite overall positive criticism and good results on the M6+platform, the series failed to impose itself in linear.

After a program at 8:40 p.m. this summer, a new day was relegated at 1:30 p.m. on August 25. Since this change, fiction only brought together 397,000 viewers each day, or 4.5 % of the public according to Médiamétrie. A clear erosion that sealed the fate of the linear series.

The chain explains it bluntly: “There is no room for more than four daily series in linear solea. The shooting will therefore stop at the end of this first season.” Clearly, new day has not found its audience, even at lunchtime.

However, M6 promises that fans will not be left endless: the latest unpublished episodes will be available for free and exclusively on M6+, while M6+ Max will continue to offer the series in the first window. The production teams continue to shoot and assembly until October 26, in order to deliver to viewers a complete plot and a “curly” end.

In a press release, M6 would like to thank “the actors, authors, directors, technicians and all the production teams who worked with passion and enthusiasm on this project, hailed by critics, but who unfortunately did not meet the public”.
