Will Cate Blanchett be the star of the Squid Game suite? She answers

In the wake of the amazing final of the Netflix series, the Hollywood actress says she is “totally open to everything”.

What if it was her, the new Star of Squid Game?

To everyone’s surprise, Cate Blanchett made a crazy appearance in the last episode of the Korean series. The Australian actress has shot an ultra-secret cameo for the final scene of Squid Game, in which she embodies a mysterious American recruiter. Spotted and greeted by the front man (Lee Byung-Hun), she is seen playing DDAKJI with a homeless in an alley. So why she?

Cate Blanchett admits that this proposal arrived “from nowhere”. And she tells in Variety not having had very little context to play the role:

“As it is a cult series and they were shooting in Los Angeles, only those who were to be informed were informed that I arrived.”

Besides, the star did not even try or even fittings: production asked him to bring his own costume! “I received a few storyboard boards. I had to learn to play very quickly at the Ddakji, that I trained again and again. I knew that they were going to make four or five different catches and what they expected from each plan, then I was given the dialogues. But it was one of the most mysterious projects in which I participated”.

So obviously, the surprise presence of an actress of this caliber, twice sacred to the Oscars, obviously suggests an American suite for Netflix. And Cate Blanchett doesn’t say no to a Squid Game spin-off?

“I am totally open to everything! In a universe as beautifully built, of course. They are creators of incredible worlds, and this series was devoured by the public. I think there is no place on earth where it has not found an echo.”

As to know if it would be carried out by David Fincher, who had directed her in the strange story of Benjamin Button, Blanchett remains more evasive: “I would love to rework with David, that makes an eternity. But no, I do not know more than you. I do not play the mysterious, I really don’t know …”
