There are relatively few surprises in the list of candidates for the statuettes. Almost all the contenders expected for the 2026 Oscars are present in the nominations revealed this Thursday. But there must still be some disappointed people today… We’re making a list of the forgotten ones.
Wicked 2 goes from 10 to 0

Chase Infiniti, the forgotten revelation of PTA

Hamnet without Paul Mescal
While her scene partner Jessie Buckley will be the big favorite for the Oscar for Best Actress, her playmate, aka Shakespeare himself, is not even mentioned.
Frankenstein without Guillermo del Toro
Considering the industry’s love for the Mexican filmmaker and the fact that Frankenstein obtained 9 nominations (including Best Picture) it is surprising that the director was put aside.
Netflix without Wake Up Dead Man
It’s quite paradoxical: the first two parts of Rian Johnson’s saga received a nomination for their screenplay. But this third opus, although undoubtedly the best of the franchise, is not mentioned. Too bad because his thriller was beautifully written. Netflix is still making up for it with Frankenstein, Train Dreams And KPop Demon Hunters.
Jay Kelly also excluded
Yet much loved by voters, Noah Baumbach was unable to convince with his new drama for Netflix, despite his very cool duo, George Clooney and Adam Sandler.
Superman and superheroes totally absent
It is true that avengers in tights are less and less popular. But that of James Gunn still succeeded this summer. At least visually. It could have been cited for its special effects…
Miley Cyrus didn’t sing loud enough on Pandora
The American pop star had signed a tailor-made hit, “Dream As One”, to accompany the epic ending of‘Avatar: Of Fire and Ashes. Too calibrated, too generic, it was not selected.
Dwayne Johnson’s transformation
The Rock was hoping to break a barrier – at least his image – with this serious drama and intense campaign. But his performance as a worn MMA fighter was not remarkable enough.
Park Chan-wook was not chosen
With its brilliant variation of Cleaver (released in France on February 11), the Korean filmmaker seemed cut out for the Oscars. But the film, which screened at a number of festivals in the fall, was only released at the end of December in North America. Too short to make a mark among voters.
